A Message from Phil, Cole, Max, and Jeff
Intro:
Hellloooooo ladies and gentlemen!! Hope that everyone is having fun overbidding on mediocre free agents!
As you guys have been blowing money, the LM's, have been discussing the state of the league and ways in which we can improve. First and foremost, we are on the whole very happy with everything. We have a good group of managers, many competitive organizations, and on the whole, it seems like everyone is enjoying themselves. With that being said, we have identified several key issues that we would like to address both immediately and with your input in the coming weeks:
Transparency & Communication from the LM's:
There is no question that we as LM's can do a much better job of better communicating and being transparent with everyone both in terms of vocalizing rule changes and in letting you know of our other considerations behind the scenes. We promise to do to a much better job in this regard. Moving forward we are going to ensure that all Rule Changes are CLEARLY stated and with an adequate heads up to the league. We are still deliberating on exactly what that looks like, how far ahead of time we can implement rules, perhaps having league members like the post to acknowledge the rule change, etc. In the future, once a change is voted on by the LM's/Mods, we will publicize the results of the poll. More on all of this in the coming weeks.
Activity:
While on the whole we are satisfied, most people seem to be checking in daily, we think we can be doing a better job on this front. For this reason we are going to be adjusting the amount of votes necessary to Approve a trade- moving the total from 4 to 6. The amount of vetoes will be kept the same at 4, and remember for every veto you need another approve, so essentially, you need 6 more approves than vetoes to get a deal approved. This rule will be implemented starting Saturday 1/5 and will be on a trial period through 2/5. The LM's will then be re-voting on the issue at that point. The reason for this change is that we see the same people voting every time and we'd like to hear the opinions of more people. We recognize it will cause for deals to get approved at a slower rate, especially at first, however, we're hoping that as people get used to voting more often, deals will get approved more quickly in addition to an increase in overall activity.
Participation:
Another way in which we have failed you as LM's is in ensuring everyone in the league feels heard, that you have a say in things more consistently. Moving forward we are going to be polling the league on more issues and rule changes. We won't be polling on all matters, but we do feel as though each of you deserves a say in certain matters. In order for a poll or vote to be considered, they will require at least 15 total votes.
Building off of that, we are going to be reopening 2 of our moderator roles. Thanks to Jason and Smurph for your work to this point! The main purpose for the reopening of these roles is to give you all a say in who will be running the league moving forward. We are still ironing out the exact responsibilities of the mod position for the future, but at it's core, the Mod's will serve as the overseers of rosters, the tiebreaker vote in LM votes, and overall support for LM functions. These two positions are open to anyone in the league. In order to be considered, please go to the below thread and post a short blurb as to why you're interested in the spot etc. At midnight on Saturday 1/12(one week), we will be closing the thread and then having a league wide vote on the candidates to be open for voting until midnight on Saturday 1/19(one week).
Moderator Positions Thread
League Manager Rules:
We as your League Managers can also do a better job of ensuring you all feel that we're holding ourselves to a certain ethical standard. Therefore, in future disputes involving one of us, that member of the LM team will not be allowed a vote or say in remedying the issue. It is an obvious conflict of interest to having one of us being able to vote or otherwise verbalize rulings on matters we are individually invested in. It will never happen moving forward.
Summary of Changes
1) LM's will post results of votes when changes are introduced
2) 15 participants required for league-wide votes on changes
3) Opening up 2 Moderator positions to a league-wide vote
4) League Managers will not get a vote/say if involved in a matter
Final Thoughts:
This league is awesome and we owe that to you guys. We want to hear from you more moving forward!! If you have a problem with a rule, make a post about it, see if it gains traction. If you have a problem with someone voice it to an LM, if you have a problem with an LM, voice it to another LM. That's the stuff we are here for! We want to hear from you guys. All that was mentioned above, and all of the changes implemented are only the beginning. We as LM's are discussing more ways in which we can improve this league but we'd love to hear more of your thoughts, concerns, and questions. Feel free to post them below, message an LM about them, start a poll to gauge opinion, anything!
Lets take this league to the next fucking level!!!!
