Shohei Ohtani

 Being that the MLB owners had to handle Ohtani differently, it might work well for our league to follow their lead.  For us, all 30 teams would be able to submit a letter or answer Ohtani's questionnaire, pleading a teams case for Ohtani joining their franchise, as a league we will vote on the top 7, then the top 7 would be randomly drawn, using the random draw as Ohtani's final decision.  Not really sure of the way to account for Ohtani's final decision, but thought this might be a closer replica of how MLB went about doing things.  The winner would be responsible for a $20M posting fee that would come out 2018 cap space, and for those with IFA $ left, they could apply it to the fee.

 I don't know if this the actual solution to the Ohtani situation we have, but it seems clear that we need some sort of resolution.

There is no solution. The decision is final. The rules have been in place for years, they didn't change and they won't retroactively change. If you'd like to propose a change for the future I am all ears, but this decision is final.

It is an interesting idea and I do appreciate it. I’d be open to it for the future but the major kink to work out is how do we deal with either randomization (and how that may be unfair because proposals may not be as “interesting”) or, if we wanted to incentivize a strong presentation, the concept of voting and removing biases. Even with blind voting it is easy for one person to tell someone else to vote for their proposal and that screws the process up
